2 Years Already?

It's hard to believe that two years ago today, I stood at the end of a long aisle and watched very excitedly as the doors opened and Britt was there in her wedding dress on the arm of her dad.  It seems as though time has flown since the night we said "I do" and began the rest of our lives together.  We've moved 3 times, bought a house, been from San Diego to New York, both of us have changed jobs at least once, and had one of the biggest blessings come into our lives, our son Nathan.  Like every couple, we have our good days and our share of not-so-good days, and yet we constantly push each other towards love and the Gospel.  So here's to two years of the most crazy up and down thrill ride we could ask for, and to fifty more just the same.

3 Months!

I can't believe it's already been 3 months since Nathan came!  It has been a crazy few months with all the craziness going on in our lives, but we couldn't be more blessed to be the parents to this little boy!  Nate now has been sleeping in his own bed for a few weeks now, is starting to sleep through the night fairly consistently (much to our immense delight), loves to smile and coo, and just recently rolled over for the first time!

You might have to pardon the blurriness, he doesn't like to be still very long!

As for the house stuff, we're waiting for our file to be approved to close, and should know within a couple of days.  We're hoping to close on May 31, and are very excited to be making many more memories in our new house for a while!

Mother's Day

I have to say that my very first mother's day was amazing and that Ryan set the bar very high!  He deep cleaned our apartment while I slept after working Friday night, bought me flowers, had our family portraits framed, and made me breakfast Sunday morning before church!  Yesterday was Christ Community Church of Magnolia's baby dedication.  Nathan was dedicated before our friends and family as Ryan and I made a committment to raise him with gospel intentionality, teaching him scripture, and pointing him towards Christ.  It was so special to dedicate him on my very first mother's day.  What a great reminder of my most important mission as a mother- to display Christ to my children and share with them the love of Christ.  Ryan and I are dedicated to keepign this promise and pray that as our friends and family, you will help us walk through this journey through prayer, wisdom, and love.

I can not belive how big our little guy is getting.  He is 11 weeks now and smiling, cooing, and working on head control.  Time is flying by and we are trying to cherish every little moment and milestone as he grows!  He is now sleeping 7+ hours every night in his own crib.  Mom and dad are loving the return of sleep!

House Update-  We fianlly settled on a final contract once the appraisal came back and are now awaiting final mortgage approval.  Our closing date is May 31st and if all goes accordingly we will be moving the first weekend of June.  We are so excited to kick off our 3rd year of marriage this summer in the new house with plenty of BBQ get togethers!

New job, new baby, new house!

2012 has proven to be the year of change and it's only April! We figured with everything that has been going on we would start a family blog to keep updates on our corner of the world! As most of you know we ended 2011 on rocky territory. Ryan had been looking for a new job to no avail and I was on bedrest for premature contractions. We started 2012 imploring our God for answers and guidance in this new year. Little did we know God had the details already in place for us. Ryan was hired with a company called the Via group in January with exactly a month and a half before the baby arrived! He is the assistant to the VP of sales and is training to become a sales representative for the company starting next year some time. The company implements and supports unified communications systems (you'll have to ask Ry what that means..). Ryan absolutely loves what he is doing and has already went on a business trip to Orlando last month!

I returned to work in February and worked a whopping 2 weeks before our son made his early arrival. Nathan Kerr Jackson was born at 36 weeks and 3 days. He was tiny at 5 pounds 13 ounces but has been growing steadily(now 8lbs 3 oz) and had no real complications! He has been the most amazing blessing and we are loving every moment of parenthood. It has been exhausting at times but he is starting to smile and coo which is so fun! He has been battling colic/gas/reflux which has been a frustrating ordeal, but has started medicine to help calm his poor stomach. We hope that this fussy/uncomfortable stage is just that- a stage that will end soon!

I returned to work in the NICU on April 1st. It is hard to leave Nathan but Ryan takes great care of him at night while I work and his DeDe (ryan's mom) is watching him in the mornings while mommy naps! I am so thankful we have such supportive parents that have been such a help during this crazy transition so that Nathan is able to stay with family at all times and avoid daycare. It means so much to be able to be the best nurse I can while I am work because I don't have to worry about the baby while I am gone!

Now for the newest addition to our year. We are currently in a 2 bedroom apartment and our lease is up in July. We have been praying for direction on whether to resign the lease or to buy a home. God again has been so faithful and perfectly orchestrated the buying of a new home! We have signed a contract on a home in Durango Creek, Magnolia! We are still in the beginning stages and have to wait for appraisal/inspection/loan application approval but if all goes well we will close on our very first home in June. We are so excited to have more space, a yard, and a place of our own. Plus the house is very close to both families and all of our friends from church! Please join us in praising God for bringing us out of a very tumultuous year into a very fruitful 2012. He has been so faithful at working things out in His timing and has provided for our every need! Please also pray that God would continue to work through our little family and work out the details to be able to close on this house! We love ya'll and can't wait to keep sharing what is going on with us!
